Arrive one hour early for flight. I only had a carry on. I had a bit of a hard time understanding the man at the security area where the luggage is put through. As usual ,I put my purse and shoes in a gray container. I asked if I should take off my jacket and he said yes, so I did. The belt was not moving but the person in front of me had been told to go ahead through. His things were still in front of the machine, not inside. I waited as there was not enough room for my small carry on. As the belt started moving, I asked if I should now put my luggage up and he said yes. He asked me to take my shoes out of the container and put them on the line. It still was not moving. Once I did, I started walking toward the body scanning machine because it was empty. He called me back & asked if I drove. Puzzled , I said yes. He said “What do you do when you are driving?” Realizing he was being condescending I said, Inch up? Do you want me to push my stuff through? He said yes. He stood there with his hands by his side not touching my stuff. I pushed on my bag as the belt began to move and my tray went in too. After being in the body scan, I was told to step aside. My neck & groin area lit up. I had jeans and a t-shirt on- no necklace or belt. They told me they would have to do a full body search. I could not believe it and as the lady started explaining what she had to do I just started crying. She asked if I wanted privacy ,and I said of course. Another lady came and retrieved my things for me. I have flown out of major airports numerous times and once internationally. I have never had to have a full pat down. I don’t think the ladies did anything inappropriate and they were nice, but the guy working the belt was a jerk. I also question the accuracy of their body scan working correctly when a zipper sets off the alarm for the groin area on a 5”3 woman and my neck was highlighted as having something of concern. I shared my story with the lady I sat with in the plane ,and she could not believe it as they told her she did not have to take her shoes off. Interesting circumstances to say the least.
Great airport with easy check in and UBER does work here even when you arrive at 11pm on a Sunday.
The check in process was ridiculously slow. We got to the airport 45 minutes before my boyfriend's flight. There were probably 6 people head of us. As it got closer and closer to the time he had to board his plane, no one would let us through the line, despite us telling them that if we kept waiting, he would miss his flight. They called for his flight to board, and we told one of the people at the counter that he needed to be on that plane. They assured us that he would not miss it, but sent us to the back of the line anyway. Sure enough, no one let us through and he missed his flight. Had he not had to check one of his bags, he would have made it in time. The only reason I'm not giving one star is because the woman at the counter was very polite and was able to get my boyfriend on the next plane out.
I fly in and out all the time it's peaceful, the security is easy and as a person with autism it all works out.
Such a great little airport. Easy to get in and out. Wish I didn't have to go through Philly to get to it.
