My boys have been with Dr. Alvarado's office since birth. The staff have always been kind and caring. They take their time with each child and answer all your questions. Dr. Alvarado Jr. is soft spoken and kind, just like his father. Dr. Sophie is amazing! She kept in contact with us while our son was very ill in Baltimore and helped our family out during that difficult time. They know each parent and child as they walk in the door. it feels like a little family in their office.
I did my research around the area when I was pregnant, after all of my research online and asking people I know I concluded this was the one to try. My grandmother has been a teacher for 40 years in Salisbury and she recommended this office as well, including Dr Alvarado Jr. After my sons birth it was my first child so I of course was on high alert and had many questions. This staff is well equipped with knowledge, care, and experience which made my experience a lot more of ease. I have had to call at 8am to get my son in because he is under the weather and they always try their best to get him in as early as possible. Most of the time they say bring him in. I've even had doctors call me with earlier times if I call midday with a concern. The care they take here is astonishing and I don't believe you will find anywhere else. The nurses are dependable and reliant, I don't see many new faces in there which tells me they are good at what they do, like their employment, and have experience. These are things that make me feel more comfortable, knowing I have seen the same nurse every time I have taken my son here. She has done my sons temperature and vitals since his birth, he is almost 3 now. And in turn, this makes my son more comfortable seeing a face he recognizes and is familiar with. They are gentle and understanding. The doctors here are patient and as concerned as you are. Being where my son is young, he has had some fevers or colds so I have seen quite a few of the doctors here, all impressive and knowledgable. I'll give you an example; my son had a odd cough in the night I called to get him in that day as early as possible so I was willing to take any doctor. I have never met the woman I saw that day but I explained his cough (which he would not do in her presence) and she was concerned, not at all making me feel as if I was making it up. She even went to the extent of looking up children's cough sounds to see which one sounded like his, long behold he started crying because he wanted to go and he did the cough! She had perscriptions, explanations, precautions everything I didn't know, she informed me from that one cough to the best of her ability. My son was feeling better in a couple days! These doctors are intelligent they do have that experience. Best of all they work as a team to do the best for your family. Not once have I seen this office dirty or unkept. Not once have I had a rude experience from any staff member. So from this mother to any in question on using this facility, I would absolutely recommend. Your children will be in wonderful care.
My boys are patients of this practice, and have been so since their birth (they are 5 and 7 respectively). In short, this is a wonderful practice, and Dr. Alvarado Jr., Dr Sophie and the entire staff are exemplary. My boys are very comfortable with all of the staff there, and they go out of their way to take their time to address any and all issues. We never feel rushed, and they always do their utmost to support both of our children with practical, timely and well researched and supported medical advice. I personally highly recommend this practice!
My daughter had a VERY bad experience as a first time mom with Joyce Blevins. She made her feel inadequate and had a really bad bedside manner. If you are a first time parent and call their office - DO NOT let them put you with her. Only see her as last resort. Dr. Alvarado is great but needs to retire Joyce.
We have been going to this office for 7 years now, and are very happy with the doctors and office staff. Sick appointments are always available, well checks are thorough, office is always very clean, and feels like family! They take such good care of my little guys!
